Community Clean-Up on Friday, March 26, 2010

Join WNY AmeriCorps this Friday, March 26th from 8:30 AM until 12 Noon for a community clean-up focusing on the side-streets surrounding our new headquarters at 2188 Seneca Street, Buffalo, NY. We’ll be picking up debris from streets and sidewalks, so dress appropriately for the weather and bring your work gloves. We will be meeting in the parking lot behind 2188 Seneca Street at 8:30 AM. See you there!

WNY AmeriCorps has moved into our new headquarters at 2188 Seneca Street, Buffalo, NY 14210.

This Valentine’s Day season, WNY AmeriCorps will be hosting a night of fun, celebration, music, and tasty treats in the Shea’s Buffalo Lobby.  Invite your sweetheart, dress for the occasion,  and join us on Friday, February 12th, 2010 from 7:00-10:00pm.

What: Pick up your FREE tickets for the event during normal business hours at the Shea's Buffalo Theatre Box Office, 646 Main St. Buffalo, NY, (2 tickets per person) or at any Rosa's Home Store location (Rosa's tickets available until closing Saturday) and join us for the airing of the episode that has been deemed "Extreme Makoever: Neighborhood Edition" by the national press. Experience the nation-wide celebration of the Buffalo community with your fellow Western New Yorkers.

The event is presented by David Homes, WNY AmeriCorps, PUSH Buffalo, Buffalo ReUse, The Tabernacle, and ReTree WNY.

Join WNY AmeriCorps for MLK Day of Service 2010 (Get a Free Ticket to Disney)

Join us for our 17th Annual Martin Luther King Day of Service! Our major projects include renovating the interior of a chosen foster house in the City of Buffalo, focusing our efforts on the foster children's bedrooms, providing paint, furniture and renewed hopes, painting and completing small but impactful repairs to the interior of the non-profit Broadway Market, painting the interior of the Michigan Baptist Church, a historic site on the Underground Railroad, and accepting toiletry donations to prepare “welcome packages” for victims of domestic violence at Haven House.

Parking: There is a parking lot across from the Broadway Market as well as an enclosed parking garage attached to rear of the building

When:
The day will begin at 8 am Monday, January 18th with light breakfast and coffee. The volunteer projects will run until 2pm.

Please dress appropriately for the occasion and temperature, clothes you don't mind getting paint on, etc.

This event is qualified for the “Give a Day. Get a Day” Disney ticket through Hands On Greater Buffalo. Final Open Interview Day for ServiceCorps This Thursday, Jan 7

The final day of open interviews for our remaining ServiceCorps program positions will take place this week. We ask that you please bring the following documentation with you.

•    Birth Certificate
•    Social Security Card
•    Driver’s License or NYS non-driver’s identification
•    High School Diploma or GED (If you do not have either one, please bring a letter of verification from your last school attended stating that you are dropped out)

You've Heard Right, Extreme Makeover Home Edition is Coming to WNY

After a lot of buzz in the community, it was officially announced this morning that Extreme Makeover Home Edition is coming to Western New York, and WNY AmeriCorps is partnering with David Homes, and other fantastic local organizations and businesses, to coordinate the thousands of volunteers it takes to make the "big reveal" happen.
